S.P.Q.R.

S.P.Q.R. are the letters in diagonal stripe preceeded by a Greek cross, on the 
official emblem of the city of  Rome since it's foundation.

S.P.Q.R. stands for Senatus Populus Que Romanus and this staes the hightest authority of the city, that is the Senate and Populus.
According to historians the abbreviation was adopted during the Roman Republic.

In passato la città si salvò dalla peste trasmessa dai topi grazie a loro. Tutti i gatti abbandonati all'interno della Colonia vengono vaccinati e sterilizzati. Sopravvivono grazie alla generosità di coloro che amano gli animali, alle offerte dei turisti e naturalmente alle cure dei volontari. I gatti di Torre Argentina vi aspettano: una visita, una carezza e una piccola offerta è tutto ciò che vi chiedono. Anche chi vi scrive ha raccolto e curato gatti randagi e pertanto vi esorta a sostenere quest'opera meritevole dei volontari della Colonia di Torre Argentina, un piccolo contributo sarà apprezzato da tutti i gatti.

The eagle and the wolf

In the 1th Century B.C. the eagle was the only military emblem and the ensign of 
the Roman legions of Ancient Rome.
After it became the symbol of the Impire. During the Fascist era re-established with the wolf. Today the wolf and the eagle are the emblem of the city of Rome.

Position

Rome is the Capital of the Italian Repubblic and Capital of the region of Lazio. 
According to historians the city of Rome was founded by Romulus on the 21th April 753 B.C.
In the ancient past was founded on seven hills: Palatine, Esquiline, Aventine, Quirinal, Viminal, Celian, Campidoglio and other hills out side historical centre the Gianiculam and the Pincio which located above Piazza del Popolo, but these last two were never part of the ancient city. In side of the Aurilian city walls there are 22 district.

Climate and tourist season

With a Mediterranean climate the city has mild winters and hot summers: the best periods to visit the city are Spring, early Summer and Autumn, when the wheather is good. August is the hottest month and a lot of shops are closed.
